Well, if you didn't know, the month of February is "International Boost Your Self-Esteem Month" and I wonder how many of us have even heard of that. This is exciting and should be stressed and built upon each year all year if you as me. But, what exactly is self-esteem exactly? Self-esteem is the confidence in knowing your self- worth and the talent or abilities you have. Self-esteem can be molded from many forms, events and individuals such as friends, family members, peers, society and the environment we live in. This is how we start to take form with our personality traits.
Did you know that every "7 in 10 girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with family and friends.", says dosomething.org) It is important for girls and women to develop a a strong sense of self- worth and self- esteem.
My favorite way to this is by speaking words of life into my mind, body and soul by using words of affirmation!Words of or phrases of affirmations are small statements of confidence, empowerment and encouragement. By welcoming affirmations into your life, you are now training your mind to believe what your are saying is true about yourself! Think about it. When we are in school or doing a project for our boss and we're saying, "I can't do this.... I'm so nervous..... " you are training your brain to do just that very thing. Remember, if you change you thoughts, you change your circumstances. Below are three was to affirm yourself worthy:
Look at yourself in the mirror and repeat you affirmation daily.
Write down your phrases of affirmations in a notebook and view them daily.
Go on youtube and listen to words of affirmations daily while you are getting ready for work, cleaning or doing choirs.
